    5x + 7 = 5 (x + 7) |use distributive property: a (b + c) = ab + ac

    5x + 7 = (5) (x) + (5) (7)

    5x + 7 = 5x + 35 |subtract 5x from both sides

    7 = 35 FALSE (it's not true! 7 is not equal 35)

    Therefore, this equation has no solution.

    There is no exist that value of x for which the equation would be true.

    Answer: x ∈ ∅ (no solution).
