How do I do

3x-2=4

We're are doing two step equations and I don't understand it ...

    First, you would add two to the negative 2. Since you're doing that, you must also add two to the other side, which in this case is the four. So ...

    3x-2=4

    +2 + 2

    You will have 3x=6. Then, you divde 3 on both sides. You will be left with x=2.

    To check, plug in for x.

    So x equals 2

    3x2-2=4

    3 times 2 is six and six minus two is 4
