What happens to an object in motion when it experiences a nonzero net external force?

    it accelerates (or decelerates) depending on the magnitude of the net force and the direction of the net force with respect to the direction of motion.

    It's speed may change, or its direction may change, or both. They're all called 'acceleration'.
