A spring with spring constant 18.8 N/m hangs from the ceiling. A ball is suspended from the spring and allowed to come to rest. It is then pulled down 5.00 cm and released. The ball makes 36.0 oscillations in 22.0 seconds. 1) What is its the mass of the ball?

    mass of the ball is 0.1298 kg

    Explanation:

    Given data

    spring constant k = 18.8 N/m

    pulled down = 5.00 cm

    36.0 oscillations

    time = 22 seconds

    to find out

    What is its the mass of the ball

    solution

    first we calculate the frequency f = oscillations / k

    f = 36 / 18.8 = 1.9148 Hz

    so we know

    f = 1/2π * √ (k/m)

    so here m is mass

    m = k / 4π²f²

    put all value

    m = 18.8 / 4π² (1.9148) ²

    m = 0.129883 kg

    mass of the ball is 0.1298 kg
