a book with the mass of 1 kg is sliding to the left on a table. if the frictional force on the book is 5 N, calculate the books acceleration. is it speeding up or slowing down

    Explanation:

    The force of friction always acts in opposite direction to the force applied for sliding the body.

    If the applied force is F, the force of friction is 5 N.

    Then the resultant force is (F - 5)

    The acceleration = net force / mass

    Thus acceleration = (F - 5) / 1 = F - 5

    Therefore, the applied force decreases, by which the acceleration als decreases. By which the body will slow down.
