A centigrade and a Fahrenheit thermometer are dipped in boiling water. The water temperature is lowered until the Fahrenheit thermometer registers 140°. What is the fall in temperature as registered by the Centigrade thermometer? (a) 80° (b) 60° (c) 40° (d) 30°

    B. 60. Use the formula temp. (F) - 32 * 5/9 = Temp in C units. 140-32 * 59 = 60 degrees Celsius.

    140 degrees Fahrenheit = 60 degrees Celsius.
