Determine the difference in the speed of sound in hydrogen at 0 degrees Celsius and in air at 30 degrees Celsius. Also indicate if is it faster or slower

    The speed of sound at different temperatures may be calculated through the following equation,

    v = 331 + 0.6T

    where v is the speed and T is the temperature in °C.

    Substituting the known values,

    0°C : v = 331 + (0.6) (0) = 331 m/s

    30°C: v = 331 + (0.6) (30) = 349 m/s

    Thus, the higher the temperature, the greater is the speed of sound.
