It is very important the anchoring to be performed correctly. Several things are needed: the right equipment, the knowledge to use the equipment and the ability to select a good area to anchor.
The boat should be stopped with the bow (nautical name for the front) and while moving slightly backwards the anchor should be let go.
After the anchor reaches the bottom there should be enough scope to hold the vessel.
