Currents are one way in which water can flow globally. By traveling in these cyclical patterns, the water can move great distances across the planet, from one area of an ocean to another. A second way can be through the general water cycle. Through uptake (evaporation) and precipitation, the water can be dispensed large distances apart, as well.
