A ruby laser delivers a 13.5-ns pulse of 3.80-mw average power. if the photons have a wavelength of 694.3 nm, how many are contained in the pulse?

    E=hf, E=plancksxfrequency, frequency=speed of light/wavelength. Find the energy of the pulse by converting the pulse to seconds and the power to watts so units agree and multiply them. Divide the energy of the pulse by energy of the photon to find the number of photons.
