Why do objects that are thrown or shot follow a curved path?

    It is due to the plurality of forces enacted on them. For example a bullet, if fired from a firearm, will move forward due to force from the gun, will slow down due to drag from air resistance, and will move downwards due to gravitational force. All these forces culminate in a parabolic (curved) path.
