    Explanation:

    1) Efficiency

    The definition of efficieny is (energy output / energy input) * 100

    ⇒ 85 = (1.4 Kwh / energy input) * 100

    ⇒ energy input = 1.4 kwh * 100 / 85 = 1.647 kwh ≈ 1.7 kwh

    2) The energy lost is: energy input - energy output = 1.7 kwh - 1.4 kwh = 0.3 kwh
