Basically gamma rays are electromagnetic radiation which means they have short wave lengths which leads to high energy and visible light is electromagnetic radiation, but longer wave length and have lower energy. Gamma rays also penetrate solids and are absorbed by them. however they have more energy than visible light, they penetrate further.
