Scientific Method 1. Definition This is a search process that follows a certain sequence of steps. They are: observation, problematization, hypothesis formulation, experimentation and theory. 2. Steps of the Scientific Method Note: As he says, it is the visualization of a fact (or phenomenon). This observation should be repeated several times in order to obtain as many details as possible, and therefore performed as accurately as possible. Care must be taken with the "vices" to make a correct observation of the fact; In many cases, the person sees what they want to see, not what is actually happening. Problematization: Corresponds to the execution of questions about the observed fact. And for these questions, the researcher goes looking for answers. A well-formulated problem is more important to science than its solution, thus paving the way for many other researches. Formulation of the hypothesis: The hypothesis is nothing more than a possible explanation for the problem. In scientific jargon, hypothesis usually equals the credible assumption, later verifiable or deniable by the facts, which will ultimately decide on the truth or falsity of the facts to be explained. "The hypothesis is the assumption of a cause or a law intended to provisionally explain a phenomenon until the facts contradict or affirm it." (Hart & Bervian, 1974: 29) Experimentation: The stage in which the researcher conducts experiments to prove (or deny) the truth of his hypothesis (s). If, after repeatedly running the experiment, the results are the same, the hypothesis is considered true. In ancient times, experiments were not controlled - empirical experiments - widely used by alchemists. In this model, the experiments were trial and error; As a result, the findings turn out to be purely haphazard. In the controlled experiment, two groups are used: the experimental group and the test group (control or control group). In the experimental group a variable is tested; the other conditions must be the same as those of the control group, which in turn corresponds to the group in which the mentioned variable does not appear and, thus, serves as a reference for analysis of the results.
