Solar weather can affect your lives on earth because t he sun sends out solar wind, and occasionally huge explosions can send a cloud of ions and radiation in our direction. The solar wind stays constant, and Earths magnetic field works well in deflecting it. Solar flares send coronal mass ejections - CMEs - toward Earth; these don't affect us or other life on Earth, but it causes Earth's magnetic field to flex and bend; this generates huge voltages in power grids, satellite systems, and other electrical units, causing them to overload and burn out.
