A motorcycle uses 50 000 kilojoules per minute. If 15 percent of the

energy generated by its engine is lost in the first few seconds, how much

energy, in kilojoules, remains to power the motorcycle?

    If 15% is lost, then 85% remains to poser the motorcycle.

    85% of 50,000 kilojoules

    = (0.85) x (50,000 kJ)

    = 42,500 kilojoules
