A 500.0 mL plastic soda bottle is emptied and sealed in Cusco, Peru, at an altitude of 11,400 feet, where the pressure is 475 torr. If the bottle is sealed in Cusco and returned to Dayton, where the pressure is 760 torr, what is its volume, assuming there was no change in temperature?

    V1 = 500 mL, P1 = 475 torr

    V2 = ?, P2 = 760 torr

    As, temperature remains constant then we use the equation given as below

    P1 V1 = P2 V2

    475 x 500 = 760 x V2

    V2 = 312.5 mL

    Thus, the volume is 312.5 mL.
