Why do circuits need to maintain a closed loop?

    A closed circuit, for most intents and purposes, is one which carries electrons at high voltage through a load and releases them to an area of lower voltage. An open circuit is any circuit with a resistance sufficient to reduce the current to below any meaningful amount
