    The period of the simple pendulum in mars = 1.60 s

    Explanation:

    Period: The period of a simple pendulum is the time taken in seconds for the pendulum to complete one oscillation.

    The period of a simple pendulum is

    T = 2π√ (L/g) ... Equation 1

    making L the subject of the equation above,

    L = T²g/4π² ... Equation 2

    Where T = period of simple pendulum, L = length of the pendulum, g = acceleration due to gravity.

    Given: T = 1.0 s,

    Constant: g = 9.8 m/s², π = 3.143

    Substituting these values into equation 2

    L = (1²*9.8) / (4*3.143²)

    L = 9.8/39.51

    L = 0.248 m.

    If the pendulum is taken to mars, of acceleration due to gravity = 3.8 m/s²

    T = 2*3.143√ (0.248/3.8)

    T = 6.286√0.0653

    T = 6.286*0.256

    T = 1.60 s

    Therefore the period of the simple pendulum in mars = 1.60 s
