A Honda Civic travels in a straight line along a road. Its distance x from a stop sign is given as a function of time t by the equation x (t) = α t2 - β t3, where α = 1.42m/s2 and β = 5.00*10-2m/s3 ... Calculate the average velocity of the car for the time interval t=0 to t1 = 2.08s

    Average velocity = (x (2.08) - x (0)) / (2.08 s - 0 s)

    x (2.08) = 1.42 * 2.08² - 0.05 * 2.08³ =

    = 1.42 * 4.3264 - 0.443456 = 6.143484 - 0.443456 ≈ 5.7 m

    v = (5.7 m - 0 m) / (2.08 s - 0 s) = 5.7 / 2.08 m/s = 27.4 m/s
