    n = c/v = sin i/sin r

    Explanation:

    Refractive Index or Index of refraction is the measurement of the bending of light rays as light passes from medium to another. Refractive Index can be calculated by the following formula. It is the ratio of the speed of light in a vacuum to that of a medium. It is denoted by n.

    n = Speed of light in vacuum/Speed of light in the medium = c/v

    n = sin i/sin r where i is the angle of incidence and r is the angle of refraction.
