An experiment was conducted in which many pieces of data were collected. Considering all of the data, the limiting number of significant figures in the experiment was 3 significant figures. One of the values needed in these calculations was the barometric pressure. It was found to be 759.5 torr. What value of the barometric pressure, in torr, would the student use in doing the calculations? Include units in your answer.

    P = 760 torr

    Explanation:

    Significant figures give information on the pressure of a measurement, and is directly related to the appreciations of the instruments.

    When we make several different measures, some have more significant figures than others, but the criterion that ae uses is that we must use it to have the least number of significant figures, since here is the error

    In this case we have 3 significant figures so the pressure value must be

    P = 759.5 torr = 760 torr

    Notice that we have rounded the nine (9) since the following figure is greater than or equal to 5
