The average speed would simply be the ratio of distance and time. That is:

average speed = distance / time

    in km/hr

    average speed = 406 km / 7 hr = 58 km / hr

    in m/s

    average speed = (58 km / hr) * (1000 m / 1 km) * (1 hr / 3600 s) = 16.11 m/s
