Gymnosperms are a plant group that share unique characteristics: they bear seeds however the seeds do not develop within an ovary. One large gymnosperm that grows in tropical regions, it is named as conifers. Conifers have about 558 living species. It is the most ecologically and economically essential group. Most conifers are trees which bear seeds within a cone.
