1. What kind of reaction takes place when garbage decomposes? (Explain your answer)

2. According to the law of conservation of mass, mass is neither created or destroyed. How is mass conserved when trash decomposes?

3. Why do you think it would be costly to capture the methane released from landfills?

    1). Everybody moves out of the neighborhood, especially if it's in the hot part of the summer.

    2). Anybody who is left living nearby keeps throwing more and more soil on top of it, trying to prevent any bouquet-bearing air from circulating over it and then through the neighborhood.

    3). Two reasons: #1). You'd need an enormous collector ... one that covered the whole area of the landfill. #2). You'd have to pay top salaries to people to operate and maintain it, otherwise you couldn't get anybody to do that job.

    I have to go take a shower from just writing answers to these questions!
