In household wiring, the outlets of two rooms are placed in parallel on a single circuit. How many 100 Watt light bulbs could you run on a circuit that had a 15 amp circuit breaker (maximum of 15 amps total) ?

    In the United States and Canada: Voltage = 120 V

    Power = (15 Amperes) x (120 V)

    Power = 1,800 watts

    You could run a grand total of 18 light bulbs on that circuit, with not a single electron to spare.

    In Africa, Israel, Europe: Voltage = 240 V

    Power = (15 Amperes) x (240 V)

    Power = 3,600 watts

    You could run a grand total of 36 light bulbs on that circuit, with not a single electron to spare.
