A heat engine has a cold reservoir of 250°C and a hot reservoir of 715°C. What is the efficienvy of the engine?

    Max. efficiency of a heat engine ... E = (T1 - T2) / T1 ... (T1 = hot res. in K, T2 = cold K)

    715C = 988K

    250C = 523K

    E = (988 - 523) / 988 ... ►E (max) = 0.47 (47%)
