    The window washer was 815.45 m high.

    Explanation:

    Given;

    time the sound of the bucket reached the window washer, t = 4.7 s

    speed of sound, v = 347m/s

    The distance the sound of the bucket traveled before the window washer heard it is calculated as;

    d = v x t

    d = 347 x 4.7

    d = 1630.9 m

    This distance is the to and fro movement of the sound of the bucket which resulted in the echo.

    Therefore, the height above the ground were the window washer was, is half the distance of the sound.

    = ¹/₂ x 1630.9 m

    = 815.45 m

    Thus, the window washer was 815.45 m high.
