    The resultant velocity, V=50<36.87°m/s

    Explanation:

    Vx = 40 m/s

    Vy = 30 m/s

    The magnitude of the resultant velocity is given by

    Vx^ (2) + Vy^ (2) = V^2

    〖40〗^ (2) + 〖30〗^2=V^2

    V=√ (1600+900)

    V=√2500

    V = 50 m/s

    For the direction

    Vy=V sin⁡ø

    30=50 sin⁡ø

    ø=sin^ (-1) ⁡〖3/5〗

    ∅=36.87°

    The resultant velocity, V=50<36.87°m/s
