    Potential on first line, V1 = 50 V

    Potential on second line, V2 = 40 V

    Charge, q = 2 C

    Change in potential, ΔV = V1 - V2 = 50 - 40 = 10 V

    Potential energy is given by

    U = q x ΔV

    U = 2 x 10

    U = 20 J

    Change in electric potential energy

    = charge x potential difference

    = 2 x (50 - 40)

    = 20 J

    Potential will be decreased by this amount.
