When you dont ventilate your boat after fueling, gas fumes will stay at the bottom of the boat. Gas vapour being heavier than air, settle down and spread to the ecnlosed spaces and compartments. And this may lead to an accident. This may be averted by performing sniff test which is used to detect fuel leaks.
