    The force applied to the sled by the lineman makes the sled accelerate at a rate of. 580 m/s/s, after taking into account the frictional losses.

    So, F = Fr + Fa

    where Fa is the force resulting in an acceleration of. 580 m/s/s and Fr is the resistivive force.

    Fr = uN where u is the coefficient of friction and N is the normal reaction force. So, Fr =.800 x (300kg) (9,81 m/s^) = 2354 N

    Fa = ma = 300kg x. 580 m/s/s = 174 N

    F = Fa + Fr = (174 + 2354) N = 2528 N
