If a rock that weighs 50 N falls for 2 seconds, what impulse is delivered to the rock's momentum if there is no air resistance?

    Impulse = force * Δtime = (mass * acceleration) * Δt = (weight) * Δt

    Impulse = 50N * 2 s = 100 N*s

    The same result you obtain if you calculate Impulse as the change in momentum = final momentum - initial momentum = m * Vf - m*Vo

    Vo = 0

    Vf = g*t

    I = m*g*t = weight * t, which is the same formula used above.

    Answer: 100 N*s
