This rock, known as balance rock, sits on a thin spike of rock in a canyon in idaho. explain the forces that keep the rock balanced on its tiny pedestal.

    The rock's CM (center of mass) lines up with the pedestal, and the Fg (force of gravity) pulls it down towards the pedestal. The Fn (normal force) from the pedestal pushes back up on the balance rock to counter the force of gravity so that the balance rock is static.
