Sally enjoyed the opportunity to collect data from standing waves in a spring. She and her partner held the ends of the spring 4.0 meters apart. There were 5 nodes in the standing wave produced.     In this case it is not necessary to take into account the frequency of the string for 5 nodes. Because of the superposition principle for waves, the new wave produced by Sally is only the frequency generated by her hand:
