    Diffusion is different from osmosis. Diffusion is when a solute passes through a semipermeable membrane inorder to reach equalibrium, while osmosis is water passing through a semipermeable membrane in order to reach equilibrium. Diffusion is when a higher concentration dilutes a lower concentration to reach its most equal state.
