To know if he would make it, he must reach a distance of 3.5km at his take off speed which is 196m/s So distance S = (v^2sin2theta) / g We want to know the man's distance if he leaves at that speed. So we have S = ((196) ^2 sin (2*30)) / 9.8 S = 38416 sin 60 / 9.8 S = 33269.231/9.8 S = 3394.819m which is 3.39km or 3.4 when approximately. Will he make it? No, he won't.
