airplanes fly be using a force called lift, which, as its name implies, caused the plane to go upwards.

Airplanes use what is called lift to fly. It is kind of like when you stick your arm out a car window. If your palm is facing the wind, it will be pulled back and if your hand is sideways, then it will move up and down, like lift.
