Explanation:
Velocity is a measure of how fast something moves in a particular direction. To define it needs both magnitude and direction. If an object moves east at 9 metres per second (9m/s), then its velocity is 9 m/s to the east.

The velocity of an object is the rate of change of its position with respect to a frame of reference and is a function of time. Velocity is equivalent to a specification of an object's speed and direction of motion
