Dot diagrams are used to represent valence electrons in the outer shell of an atom. In lewis dot diagrams, dots are arranges around the atomic symbol to represent electrons in outremost energy level of the atom. Also, bonds are shown via dots such that single bonds are shown by a pair of dots
