Explain the role of activation energy in a reaction. How does an enzyme affect activation energy?

    The term activation energy was first introduced by Svante Arrhenius, a Swedish scientist. This is the minimum energy which must be achieved or available for the chemical reaction to occur. With the presence of an enzyme, this activation energy is lowered allowing the chemical reaction to be completed faster.
