    5.87 m/s

    Explanation:

    mass of bowling ball, m1 = 7.5 kg

    initial velocity of bawling ball, u1 = 8.39 m/s right

    mass of bowling pin, m2 = 1.36 kg

    initial velocity of bowling pin, u2 = 0

    Final velocity of bowling pin, v2 = 13.9 m/s right

    Let v1 be the final velocity of bowling ball.

    As there is no external force is acting on the system, So the linear momentum of the system is conserved.

    Total momentum before hitting = Total momentum after hitting

    m1 x u1 + m2 x u2 = m1 x v1 + m2 x v2

    7.5 x 8.39 + 1.36 x 0 = 7.5 x v1 + 1.36 x 13.9

    62.925 = 7.5 x v1 + 18.904

    44.021 = 7.5 x v1

    v1 = 5.87 m / s

    Thus, the final velocity of bowling ball is 5.87 m/s.
