While doing a lab, a student found the density of a piece of pure aluminum to be 2.85 g/cm. The accepted value for the density of aluminum is 2.70 g/cm. What was the students percent error?

    5.56%. The formula for percent error is: Percent Error = (|Theoretical value - Experimental value| / Theoretical value) x 100. Remember that the percent error is unitless, and to keep significant figures even after calculations.
