    125 Joules

    Explanation:

    In an elastic motion, the net kinetic energy of the system is conserved i. e the total kinetic energy of the system after the collision is equal to the total kinetic energy of the system before collision;

    Kinetic Energy = 1/2 m*v^2

    Total Kinetic energy = Kinetic Energy (Cart 1) + Kinetic energy (Cart 2);

    Total K. E = 0.5 * (10) * (5) ^2 + 0 = 125 Joules;

    Energy after collision = Energy before collision = 125 joules
