The cart is initially at rest. Force F⃗ is applied to the cart for time Δ t, after which the car has speed v. Suppose the same force is applied for the same time to a second cart with twice the mass. Friction is negligible. Afterward, the second carts speed will be

    v / 2

    Explanation:

    Force F is applied for Δ t time so

    impulse = FΔ t

    impulse = m (v - u)

    = m (v - 0)

    = mv

    If same force is applied for the same time on mass 2m

    FΔ t = 2m v_x

    = mv = 2m v_x

    v_x = v / 2
