There are several myths about nuclear energy. But I'll share some the common myths with you.
1. Nuclear energy isn't safe.
Truth: Nuclear energy is the safest form of energy. No member of the public has never gotten injured or died in the 50 years of nuclear power.
2. Nuclear energy is bad for the environment.
Truth: Nuclear power doesn't emit greenhouse gases. Which makes it harmless and uses less land then any other forms of energy.
3. A nuclear reactor can explode like a nuclear bomb.
Truth: This is 100% false. A nuclear bomb contains special materials which configures the bomb. Those materials in that bomb are not even in a nuclear reactor.
4. Nuclear energy causes too much radiation.
Truth: The truth is that we get some radiation in us by natural radiation every year. We're surrounded by 0.005% of natural radiation every year as we live. Not only that, but nuclear energy has 100 times less radiation then coal and 200 times less radiation then going on a cross country flight. So it doesn't have as much radiation as you think.
5. Nuclear waste can't be safely transported.
Truth: Used fuel is being safely transported by trucks, rails, and cargo ships by this day. Plus, the used fuel is in a specially designed casks. Which can be transported safely without cracks or leaks.
