    K = 8

    Explanation:

    The magnitude of k can be found using Pythagoras theorem.

    Given hypotenuse L = 10

    J = 6

    K = ?

    L^2 = J^2 + k^2

    Therefore

    10^2 = 6^2 + k^2

    10 x 10 = 6 x 6 c k^2

    100 = 36 + k^2

    Subtract 36 from both sides

    100 - 36 = 36 - 36 + k^2

    64 = k^2

    K^2 = 64

    K = squared root of 64

    K = 8
