    In a neutral atom as the name suggest the atom should be electrically neutral that means it must have equal number of positive and negative chargers. In an atom we speak of 3 subatomic particles, protons which are positively charged, electrons which are negatively charged and neutrons which are neutral. So atom should have equal number of positive and negative chargers to be neutral.
