You are holding a positive charge and there are positive charges of equal magnitude 1 m to your north and 1 m to your east. what is the direction of the force on the charge you are holding?

    Like charges repel so we expect that when these two charges are brought closer together, these charges go the farthest way as they could. The resultant force of the two via the pythagorean theorem is sq rt of 2 m and that the direction is northeast.
