Given that average speed is distance traveled divided by time, determine the values of m and n when the time it takes a beam of light to get from the sun to the earth (in s) is written in scientific notation. note: the speed of light is approximately 3.0*108m/s.

    In order to calculate the time it takes a beam to travel from the Sun go the Earth we need to know two thing:the fact that light moves at 300000km/sec and the fact that the Earth orbits the Sun at a distance of 150 million km. If we divide these two:

    150 million km/300000km/s we get 500 seconds.
